Prepare for Camp

CYJ Sprout Lake Packing List

The following list, recommended for all campers, is based on careful thought and experience, and takes into account climate and the weekly frequency of our laundry. Cubby space is limited, and excess clothing makes it difficult for the bunk to remain clean and organized. Keep in mind that camp is very informal and usually warm, though nights can be cool. We ask that you abide by this list, making certain that all of your child’s belongings are labeled. Camp is not responsible for any lost or stolen items!

 

Mandatory Items

  • pillow
  • blanket
  • 2 sets of bedding (pillow cases and cot-sized sheets)
  • kippot (mandatory of males at t’fillot and meals)
  • canteen or water bottle
  • 1 - 2 hats
  • sunscreen
  • bug repellent
  • sleeping bag
  • flashlight (extra batteries)
  • small backpack or knapsack (day bag for short hike)
  • 1 overnight bag for camping (different from day bag listed above)
  • 6 towels (4 shower, 2 pool)
  • toiletries (soap/dish, shampoo, toothbrush/paste, plastic cup)
  • 2 pairs of sneakers
  • sandals (water shoes with ankle support for water hiking are a must!)
  • rain gear (including boots or waterproof shoes)
  • 2 large laundry bags
  • 3 bathing suits
  • stationery, pens
  • stamps (mandatory)
  • postcards and postcard stamps

General Items

  • 16 - 20 pairs of underwear
  • 16 - 20 pairs of socks
  • 6 - 10 shorts
  • 2 - 4 jeans or pants
  • 12 - 14 t-shirts
  • 2 long-sleeved shirts
  • 3 sweatshirts or sweaters
  • 1 light jacket
  • 1 pair of walking shoes or boots
  • 3 pajamas
  • 1 bathrobe
  • 1 set of flip-flop sandals to wear in the shower
  • 2 sets of Shabbat clothing

Suggested Items

  • small games
  • softball mitt
  • tennis racquet
  • camera and recharger
  • books
  • mattress pad-twin size
  • address labels or pre-addressed envelopes
Please Note:

Please bring only 2 pieces of soft luggage per camper. We highly recommend duffel bags. We do not allow trunks at camp and we do not allow garbage bags to be used as luggage. Please do not send your child with a trunk and do not pack in garbage bags.
